Water Rates
To keep water affordable and to encourage efficiency, Sunrise Water's rate structure includes three tiers based on how much water you use. Indoor water use — for bathing, cooking and flushing toilets — is essential for human life and is charged at the lowest rate. Essential outdoor water use is charged in the second tier (middle rate), followed by additional outdoor water use in the third tier. The third tier encourages water conservation.
In addition to variable charges based on water use, the rate structure also includes a monthly fixed service charge based on the size of your water meter. Water rates are collected to pay for water purchases, transmission, storage and other variable costs associated with the provision of water. Service charges are set fees collected, regardless of how much water is consumed, to pay for the fixed costs of operating the system. All water consumption is billed by units of consumption. A Unit is equivalent to 100 cubic feet or 748 gallons of water.
